Head Teacher Message 7: Friday 22nd May 2020
Thank you all for your kind messages last week. The staff team were amazing in my absence and I would like to thank them all! Particular thanks to Mr Leaves and Mrs Amesbury for coordinating the team for the week.
There is constant speculation in the media about a ‘return to school’. Here in Wales, we are lucky to have an Education Minister who is working incredibly hard to ensure the safety and well-being of us all; pupils, staff and the wider community. She has repeatedly stated that any updates will come from her so please try not to focus on the stories that will inevitably circulate over the next week. She has also stated that when we return to school there will be plenty of time to plan and prepare, that it will not be all pupils returning at the same time [it will be much more staggered and look nothing like what we are used to], that if parents do not feel confident sending their children they will not be forced to do so and that we need more evidence and systems in place before it will be considered. I have spoken with the Director of Education for Caerphilly this week and feel very reassured that they are working alongside both WG and the teaching community to ensure safety, confidence and a way forward.
You have all been amazing! The engagement in the tasks and the phone calls has been incredibly positive and the staff have all said those conversations with the children are the highlight of their week!
Next week is Bank Holiday Monday and then Half Term. I think it’s really important that the staff have a break and re-charge for the following half term and beyond. I think you all need a break from ‘juggling’ too!
What we will do to keep connected during the week:
Have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend & Half Term; stay safe, stay connected to those you love and enjoy the sunshine!
With love, Vicky JD xx
