Head Teacher Message 8: Friday 29th May 2020
I hope you have all managed some relaxation in the sunshine this week!
Following the First Minister’s address today, I have no further updates to provide around when and how schools will be returning. As soon as this information is available; I will let you know!
Maps of the Week and Facebook Challenges will be uploaded on Monday morning as usual.
We will also be sending an email to all pupils, [via Purple Mash] with a set of questions we would like them to answer. These are to form the ‘pupil comments’ section of their end of year school reports. These will be different this year; the ‘curriculum content’ will be assessed and commented upon up until the end of the Spring Term. The main focus of the report will be on the personal comments written by staff and pupils.
YEAR TWO PUPILS
I would like to reassure you that the Head Teacher of Bedwas Juniors [Mr Cook] and I are in regular contact and as soon as we have any concrete information we will do all we can to support the children with what will be a very ‘different’ transition. We understand that you may be feeling anxious about this and we will support you all every step of the way.
Every year, Richard Tidy [husband of school governor, Claire Tidy, and local parent], produces a fabulous photograph of all the Year 2 children that they receive as a gift. He usually spends a morning in school, taking photographs of small groups of children that are then put together in one rectangular photo frame.
We have been trying to work out a way of achieving this in the current situation and we have a plan! It is a really important keepsake for the children when they leave us.
It will involve you taking a photo of your Year 2 child, in their uniform, creating a ‘name plate’ and emailing it to us at school. I will need you to state in the email that you are happy for the photograph to be sent on to Richard Tidy and used for the purpose of the end of year photograph. Once the format has been set and the photograph printed, all photos will be deleted.
He has provided us with a list of instructions so that the photos are as similar as possible to each other.
Any questions; please email me.
If you would like additional activities or support of any kind, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss what you would like / need. If we can’t help, we will find someone who can!!
Enjoy the rest of Half Term; stay safe, stay connected to those you love and enjoy the sunshine!
With love, Vicky JD xx
