Literacy and Numeracy
In Literacy sessions, pupils will have a go at writing their name as well as drawing and mark-making pictures and letters.
We will be learning lots of letter sounds. The first set of sounds are: s a t p i n.
At home, encourage your child to hold the pencil with a finger and thumb grip. You can use the first set of sounds to try to make up 3-letter words such as sat, pat, tin, pin, sip, nap etc. You can play I-Spy and look for objects starting with these sounds.
In Numeracy, pupils will be learning to read, write, count and order numbers to 10.
You could practice this at home by writing numbers with chalk, water or in the sand with your child. Take as many opportunities to count items e.g. stones, toys, sticks or leaves etc. Talk about shapes, colours and measurements wherever you can.
